This book has all the things that I love in it. This had great suspense, mystery, a bit of romance and great characters. I did not want to put this down. There were so many twists and turns. I love to learn about the Amish and to have great suspense. I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

I give this book a five out of five stars.

The Way of the Brave by Susan May Warren

This is a wonderful suspenseful story that takes place on the mountains of Alaska. I definitely do not wish to ever go mountain climbing. This has great descriptions of the mountains and I am really afraid of heights. I would not like the cold either. The characters in this story are fantastic and I look forward to learning more about them in the next books in the series. Orion and Jenny learn many lessons while living through many trials. I received a copy of this book from Revell for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

This is a story that is based on a true family. This would have been a horrible time to live in. This book really shows how hard the Great Depression was on everyone. Very few people were not affected by the privations that were happening at this time. Then to live in Oklahoma with the years of the dust bowl must have been rotten. This made me laugh and cry many times. I received a copy of this book from Celebratelit for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will

Blackbird by Mary Alford

This is a wonderful story. I love the ideas of the Amish and the intrigue. Who killed these women and men? Was this the same killer who left dead blackbirds from 10 years before or was it a copycat murderer. I loved the characters. This community had a lot of secrets that needed to be revealed. I hope there are more books in this series. This is a quick and easy read. I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

There was a bit of romance and some intrigue. Every one of these characters learned some hard fought lessons. This really kept my interest. When God Directs a Google Search…

I’m a history lover, but you may have guessed that since I write historical romance stories. 😊 Most of my books are set in the Rocky Mountains during the mid-1800s, but as I began brainstorming ideas for this new series, my heart became drawn earlier to the earlier part of the century—a time period with which I wasn’t quite as familiar with the history.

I love when God orchestrates even the most mundane part of our lives, including Google searches! During one particular search (I can’t even remember what I was originally looking for), I stumbled across part of a journal entry from the Lewis and Clark expedition, which trekked across Montana during the time period I was looking into. I’d forgotten that expedition had even entered the territory that would later become Montana, but now I was fascinated.

After finding an audiobook of the abridged journals of Lewis and Clark, I happily listened to almost 19 hours of fascinating stories from the Corp of Exploration’s journey up the Missouri River and across the mountains to the Pacific Ocean, then back mostly the over the same path they’d come. The stories the men told were so amazing, and the detail of their trials so absorbing, I’ve actually re-listened to the audiobook twice! Many of the true tales wouldn’t be believable in fiction, but as I listened, my mind formed the premise for Freedom in the Mountain Wind: a father/daughter duo who sets out almost two decades after Lewis and Clark’s journey, determined to retrace the steps of that famous expedition.

I hope you enjoy this story as much as I loved writing it! And whether you’re a history lover or not, I pray that you too will be touched by this “epic journey through breathless landscapes and adventure so intense, lives will never be the same.”

The Gray Chamber by Grace Hitchcock with a giveaway

This has been one of my favorite books so far this year. It is beautifully written. I did not want to put this book down. How would you like to have a life and then find out that someone could control what was going to happen to you. This happens to Edyth. She is happy being an eccentric woman and doesn’t know what horrors can lurk in a bad mans heart. Can Edyth survive the horrors of an 19th century women’s lunatic asylum. I don’t know how anyone survived inside a lunatic asylum in that day and age. I loved the characters. I received a copy of this book from Celebratelit for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

I am thrilled to share with you my second novel in the True Colors series, The Gray Chamber, which is set in New York City in 1887. I loved writing about Edyth Foster, our cat-rescuing, spunky heroine who spends her days painting, fencing with her dreamy instructor, and avoiding society at all costs, which as you can imagine, comes back to haunt her before the end. I’ve never written about a character who despised reading, so that was a new one for me. Edyth just doesn’t like to sit still long enough to finish a book, but you’ll find out why later.

 

I am pretty certain the librarians at my local branch are wondering what in the world my hobbies are, judging from the stacks of fencing books for beginners, histories of New York crime in the 19^th century, and Nellie Bly’s Ten Days in a Mad-House, and more that I have continuously checked out since moving back to Louisiana.

 

The inspiration for this book came from Nellie Bly’s scandalous exposé for Joseph Pulitzer’s newspaper, The World. In reading Nellie’s articles, I was shocked at the grounds by which the asylum would commit women and that’s when I discovered a tiny mention about an heiress with family members who had her tucked away so they could have her fortune. . .and Edyth Foster was born.

I will definitely need to read the first books in this series because this one was so good. I want to learn all about the other characters that were mentioned in this story. I loved how there were a few stories going on that were interconnected. The romance was great but so was the intrigue. This handled the spousal abuse very well. This is a book that you want time to read because you won’t want to put it down. I can’t wait to read the next in the series. I loved this start to a new series by Lynette Eason. I am never disappointed with these stories. This one starts with a former army special ops soldier and a former military psychiatrist. These two both have stuff to work out from their time in a war zone. It ends up with them needing each other to help them through a lot of twists and turns. There is a little romance throughout and a lot of action. I can’t wait to find out how this story continues in the second book of the series. I give this book a five out of five stars.
