Misstep by Deborah Dee Harper promo blasto

This is a fun and crazy cozy mystery set in Virginia. The new couple in town are the youngest people and have bought the Bef and Breakfast. Crazy things seem to happen from the time they move in. Melanie and Hugh seem to draw craziness near them. Very enjoyable. I can’t wait to read book 2. I received a copy of this book from Celebratelit for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

Strangest Town on Earth

Pastor Hugh Foster: His heart was in the right place, even

if, in hindsight, it appeared he’d clearly taken leave of his

It’s December in Road’s End, Virginia, a tiny town long forgotten by

anyone but its residents, where Colonel Hugh Foster and his wife,

Melanie, have chosen to live—for better or worse. The jury’s still out

on that one!

Road’s End is comprised entirely of senior citizens whose kids have

grown and left for greener pastures. Hugh, Melanie, and Bristol (one of

the few sane people in town) are faced with a crumbling church in

desperate need of repair and renovation, a dwindling congregation of

opinionated, ornery senior citizens, and a camel—yes, a camel. And if

that’s not enough, the trio and the rest of the Road’s End residents are

soon mired in danger and intrigue when a group of gun-toting drug

dealers arrive in town, bent on killing the church handyman, and

conspiring to ruin the doggonedest record-breaking blizzard the town has ever seen.

About the author:

Deborah Dee Harper writes from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and

specializes in humorous, inspirational Christian books for both

children and adults. Her novel, Misstep, is the first book in her Road’

s End series for adults (although children are welcome to read them

as well). She’s also written a children’s adventure series, Laramie on

the Lam, that is inspirational, humorous, and full of fun.

The Edge of Over There by Shawn Smucker

This is a wonderful science fiction series. Both books in the series have been fantastic. I don’t understand why anyone would want to live forever. I would have to help Abra destroy the tree of life. I do understand wanting to use it to make someone healthy again but not to live forever. This has a lot of twists and turns. I received a copy of this book from Revell for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

I give this book a five out of five stars.

Before the Tree of Life, everything in Abra Miller’s life had been predictable. But after the Tree and the lightning and the angels, everything felt tenuous, like holding a soap bubble in the palm of her hand. She spent years looking for signs of that other world, waiting for it to break through. When it didn’t, her friendship with Sam Chambers grew cold and distant, and they both wondered how any of it could actually have happened.

Four years later, 16-year-old Abra’s long-delayed quest to find the next manifestation of the Tree of Life is renewed when she sees a woman walking up the road–a woman who looks exactly like Sam’s dead mother. The woman directs her to New Orleans where she will find the grave of Marie Laveau, one of seven gateways between this world and Over There. As Abra enters The Edge of Over There and begins her pursuit of the Tree once more, she doesn’t know whom to fear or whom to trust. But she’s starting to think that some doorways should never be opened.

The Hope of Azure Springs by Rachel Fordham

I can’t believe this was a debut novel. This made me laugh and cry. I did not want to put this book down. The orphan train was an interesting idea but unluckily there were too many people who would abuse the system. I loved the characters of Em and Caleb. There were so many twists and turns for a historical novel. I received a copy of this book from Revell for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

I give this a five out of five stars.

Seven years ago, orphaned and alone, Em finally arrived at a new home in Iowa after riding the orphan train. But secrets from her past haunt her, and her new life in the Western wilderness is a rough one. When her guardian is shot and killed, Em, now nineteen, finally has the chance to search for her long-lost sister, but she won’t be able to do it alone.

For Azure Springs Sheriff Caleb Reynolds, securing justice for the waifish and injured Em is just part of his job. He’s determined to solve every case put before him in order to impress his parents and make a name for himself. Caleb expects to succeed. What he doesn’t expect is the hold this strange young woman will have on his heart.

Revealed by Elaine Manders with a giveaway

It would be awful to find out when you are 18 that your mother is close to dying and that the man you thought was your father might not be your father and you have two olde brothers that you didn’t know existed. I loved how this story flows. I loved the characters of Katherine and Colt. I also really enjoyed Carianne and Rhyan. This was the third book in the series and I have not read books one and two but I hope to read them sometime. You don’t need to read them to really enjoy this one. I received a copy of this book from Celebratelit for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

I give this a five out of five stars.

My Backstory

Intrigue under Western Skies Series, Book 3

Revealed

Back when I watched television, drama series were my favorite—Little House of the Prairie, the Waltons, the Virginian. I was caught up in the lives of these characters and looked forward to seeing what they were up to each week. For much the same reason, I enjoy writing episodic series.

Intrigue under Western Skies, a blended genre, historical romantic suspense series falls in this category. Some of the characters show up in every book, with new ones added along the way. But the books can be read out of sequence since each one has a different premise and plot.

In Revealed, Book 3 of Intrigue under Western Skies, I wanted to give Colt Holliman, previously introduced as a secondary character, his own HEA. Also, it seemed the time to reveal what happened to Rhyan Cason’s mother, the woman who’d caused so much angst in the first two books. More importantly, it gave me the opportunity to introduce Katherine, the sister he never knew existed.

Unexpectedly, my research led me to the history of show business, and how it developed through the Wild West shows of the nineteenth century. From that, a mystery evolved.

The spiritual thread running through Revealed explores the emotions of a young woman who discovers blood relatives have been hidden from her. Can she accept and love her new family and forgive the sins of her parents?

Maybe the greatest insight I gained from writing Revealed is that one can never trust his own heart without first trusting God.

Amish Country Ambush by Dana R. Lynn

This is a great story of suspense and romance. There were a lot of twists and turns throughout. Elise and Ryan have to work together to find Elise’s nephew before a very bad guy finds him. It is so well done on how they learn about each other while trying to evade capture themselves. I hope there will be many more books in this series. I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

I give this book a five out of five stars.

The Reckoning of Gossamer Pond by Jaime Jo Wright

I loved this story and how it went from past to present throughout. This had some romance and a lot of intrigue. The mystery in the present needed to be solved to understand what happened in the past. I loved Annalise and Libby. The twin revivalists from the past we’re very interesting. I loved how everything blended together to help Annalise in the present. I received a copy of this book from Celebratelit for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

I give this book a five out of five stars.

For over a century, the town of Gossamer Grove has thrived on its charm and midwestern values, but Annalise Forsythe knows painful secrets, including her own, hover just beneath the pleasant faade. When a man is found dead in his run-down trailer home, Annalise inherits the trailer, along with the pictures, vintage obituaries, and old revival posters covering its walls. As she sorts through the collection, she’s wholly unprepared for the ramifications of the dark and deadly secrets she’ll uncover.

A century earlier, Gossamer Grove has been stirred into chaos by the arrival of controversial and charismatic twin revivalists. The chaos takes a murderous turn when Libby Sheffield, working at her father’s newspaper, receives an obituary for a reputable church deacon hours before his death. As she works with the deacon’s son to unravel the mystery behind the crime, it becomes undeniably clear that a reckoning has come to town–but it isn’t until another obituary arrives that they realize the true depths of the danger they’ve waded into.

Two women, separated by a hundred years, must uncover the secrets within the borders of their own town before it’s too late and they lose their future of their very souls.

Guest Post from Dana Mentink

I’ve spent a bit of time in emergency rooms lately. Not to complain, mind you. The asthma related treatments worked like a charm and we were blessed by good care, so I am not grateful. There’s a bonus, too. The emergency room is a great place for people watching! Hour upon hour I spent surveying patients, relatives, nurses and doctors. I came away pondering what it must be like to work in the strange bustle that is an emergency room. That’s where character Shannon Livingston was born.

The E.R doc and nurses must be brilliant problem solvers with nerves of steel because they never know what will roll through their doors. Since they are not responsible for follow up care, they have only a short term relationship with their patients. But what would happen, my fictional mind wanted to know, if one emergency room treatment ensnared Shannon in a “run for your life” scenario? And what if her incredible life saving skills weren’t nearly enough to save her own life, or the baby she’s suddenly become responsible for? Ah me! The perfect scenario for a suspense novel, no? I hope you enjoy Cowboy Bodyguard. I can promise it’s going to be a bumpy ride!
